Prague, railway bridge over Seifertova street

Re-building of an existing railway bridge at the end of the Main railway station in Prague over a city street with a heavy traffic. A structure with a minimum depth of the cross section was needed (the original bridges were not ballasted), as well as a structure with minimum interruptions of heavy traffic both on the bridge as well as bellow the bridge during construction.
A composite steel-concrete (joist-in girders) frame structure with haunches was designed. To decrease effects of thermal and volume changes, frame supports were subdivided into a compression strut and a back tie.
Aesthetical cooperation Petr Šafránek.
Conceptual and preliminary design 1994 – 2000. The design was elaborated during previous employment (Sudop Praha J.S.C.).
